Barry’s GenSites: Digitalarkivet

Posted on Oct 17, 2012

Norway's digital archive provides the nation's past, starting with censuses (1801, 1865, 1875, 1900), emigrant registers, tax lists, probate indexes and military rolls.  Now webmasters are working to digitize all 11,000 parish registers—that's 1.85 million pages.

A countdown clock at this National Archives of Norway website tracks the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the release of the 1910 Norwegian census, but there's plenty to keep you occupied in the meantime: the 1801, 1865, 1875 and 1900 censuses, plus digitized parish regis¬ters and probate records.  There's even a one-click search of all the databases .

This National Archives of Norway site offers free online access to the 1801, 1865, 1875 and 1900 Norwegian censuses and its ongo¬ing digitization project for over a million parish registers, along with real estate registers.
