Barry's Relatively Speaking: A Hearty Meal
Posted on Jul 11, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. H. D. Nunn shares the following experience.
This is an experience my great grandmother, Sidney D. Evans, had as a young married woman.
She was living in a log cabin in Johns Township, Appanoose Co., Iowa. Early one morning two horsemen came riding up, dismounted, and at gunpoint ordered her to feed them breakfast; which she did. After eating they rode off as suddenly as they had appeared. She did not know who she had fed until a week or so later when she received her newspaper. Jessie and Frank James had robbed the Griffinsville, la., bank the very same day she had been forced to feed breakfast to two strangers.
