Barry's Relatively Speaking: Three Generations in Two Hours
Posted on Aug 17, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Mariana shares the following experience.
It was a day like many others with one exception. This day my husband picked up the mail on his way home from work, therefore, he had already seen the letter which gave his great grandmother's maiden name when he arrived home. We were thrilled.
He immediately called his uncle and asked him did he know that his grandmother's name had been PATTILLO. Yes, he answered, he did and he didn't know why he had not thought to mention this fact before, in the past few years. During the conversation he also remembered he once knew a lady in Oak Cliff who had loaned him a book on the PATTILLO family.
After the conversation my husband was so excited that a book on his ancestors existed he was determined to have a look at it if possible.
He searched the phone book for PATTILLO and decided to call one whose first name was John. What a wonderful surprise to find it was the right one and further more he had the book in his possession as a gift from his mother. He had at those very moments been looking at the book and had it in front of him.
He agreed we could come over and look at the book and if it pleased us he would sell it to us.
We were able to visit him right away. How blessed we felt to have the book which gave us three additional generations right away with promise of much more. We were in possession of the book within two hours of the time we were given the PATTILLO name. _ .
