Barry's Relatively Speaking: Where Is Caroline Buried?
Posted on Sep 08, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Nancy shares the following experience.
I've only been family - tree -climbing for a few months but until this week I never knew a person could be buried in two places at once! Now instead of wondering where my great-grandfather's sister Caroline Heitz is buried, I have two cemeteries that claim her! First I found her headstone alongside her husband at a local Catholic Cemetery-and was puzzled because she was not supposed to be Catholic. But the dates 1855-1937 were right. However, my mother insisted that Caroline was buried in a brother's plot at a nearby non-Catholic cemetery. The Catholic cemetery won't check its records for me, but the non-Catholic one did and sure enough, Caroline was shown as being buried there and there were no indications of her having been moved to or from another cemetery. Their dates were the same: 1855-1937. So where is Caroline?
