Barry's Relatively Speaking: On Genealogy

Posted on Sep 11, 2012

Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Sandra shares the following experience.

Our generation, while we're young,

Seems greater than the last; But in the second half of life,

Seeks traces of the past. Why did we not the questions ask,

Of Grandma, while alive; Instead of searching now so hard,

Some dusty old archive? Tinker, tailor, soldier, thief-

Was our grandsire one of these? Perhaps he was an Indian Chief,

Or born in England's leas. Perhaps a blend of both these worlds, The New one and the Old; Who came to seek his fortune here,

And have his story told. But whatever be the answers,

This surely you will find: That whoever were your forebears, You're still "one-of-a-kind"!
