Barry's Relatively Speaking: Dream Come True
Posted on Sep 18, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Sharon shares the following experience.
My husband and I have just experienced a genealogist's dream come true.
We received an unexpected call to go to Richmond, Virginia on business. As we left, I said, "If you have doubts about this business trip, let's stay home. It's snowing in Richmond."
My husband replied, "I can't. For some reason I have to go to Richmond tonight." After taking care of the business he was undecided and said that we should go to the home of some friends in Richmond to discuss the business trip with them. He said, "The answer to this trip is at the (friend's) house." As we sat around discussing the business at hand and catching up on old times, we started discussing genealogy. I mentioned that our Nuckols line had married into the Duke line. Our friend had just bought a new book on the Duke family and sure enough, there were his grandparents on page 163. . . The book gives his line through English Royalty back to Adam, himself. After that, we forgot all about the business part of the trip. We had found the real reason for going to Richmond.
