Posted on Sep 28, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. C.M. Martin shares the following experience.
Today I had some microfilm in the library that I had borrowed by interloan! But when I checked the shelf, I found one for Nova Scotia that interested me more! My paternal grandmother was born in Halifax Co. ca 1873 and I felt sure that I would find her with her parents there!
Of course none of Canada, Prince Edward Island, nor Nova Scotia is indexed! I started at nine a.m. to search the census! Between my volunteering as the regional genealogist for the day and trying to search that census I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!
My maternal grandfather had married three times! and there on one page in three lines were his surname - the name of his second wife - and the name of his third
All listed in the insane asylum!!!
At least it makes for a good laugh when the family thinks I am nuts! Now I can say I found them all in the nut house!! Even if they weren't really mine!!!
