Barry's Relatively Speaking: Genealogy Can Come From Anywhere

Posted on Oct 23, 2012

Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Hoyt shares the following experience.

We have been searching for my grandmother's family for a long time. We had about given up when we received a phone call from an Art Wilmot of Blackfoot, Idaho. Comparing notes, we discovered his grandfather was a brother to my grandmother and we made plans to go to Idaho to meet this living relative of grandma's.

After we got there he told us how he found us. A friend had gone to a ski resort in Montana in the fall of 1980. One morning he went to the outdoor john and looking around he found an old Frontier Times magazine. While reading the magazine he found the ad we had placed in 1976 in the "Trail's Grown Dim" column. The names in the ad were familiar so he tore out the ad and brought it back to our cousin.
