Barry's Relatively Speaking: Her Name Was Eve
Posted on Oct 27, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Karen shares the following experience.
One branch of my family tree had seemed especially difficult to trace until one day I suddenly thought to "check out" a cemetery some twenty miles away.
It was my good fortune to park very near a stone which bore our relatively uncommon surname of Gribel. Even though I could not find the husband's grave, I excitedly rushed home to announce to my dad that I was fairly certain I had located his great grandmother's grave.
"Dad!" I bubbled in my excitement, "I think I found your great-grandmother! Her name was Eve!"
Dad, who does not share my interest in genealogy, fixed me with a cynical eye and responded, "When you finally find Adam will you be satisfied?"
