Barry's Relatively Speaking: Coincidences ???

Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Ruth shares the following experience.
As the election nears, I thought your readers might get a chuckle out of an item I found when doing Tennessee research several years ago.
As I checked the records in one county, I came across a name which was very similar to the one which 1 sought. Looking down the myriad of given names of the same surname, 1 found one who had been sent to the Tennessee Insane Asylum.
Then in later records, I discovered a man with the same surname, given name and even middle name (as the one sent to the asylum) who had been elected to the Tennessee State Legislature.
As an additional coincidence, the county clerk had the same surname of the above records. Therefore, out of curiosity, I asked him if the man sent to the asylum and the one elected to the legislature, were, by any chance, related.
Imagine my surprise when the clerk said that they were one and the same man. It seems that when the man was released from the insame asylum he ran for the legislature and won!
