Barry's Relatively Speaking: "Hung By His Tail ?"
Posted on Dec 26, 2012
Barry's Relatively Speaking shares the personal experiences and stories of genealogists found in the Everton Genealogical Helper Magazine collection on MyGenShare.com. Rachel shares the following experience.
When I started my family search, I was just as excited as everyone is when I found a new bit of information. I seemed to be the only one interested in searching our history until I saw the results at the annual family reunion. I hardly had time to eat my potluck dinner what with all the questions from the some 100 family members there. This made it all worthwhile and made me want to dig even deeper.
When I mentioned to my Pastor that I was working on my history and that I had found lots of exciting things, he made the comment that "You can dig into my family history and may find that someone was hung by their neck, but you will never find one that was hung by his tail!" This was one of the first things my family will read when they look at the family history book I end up with as I am going to have it printed on the first page.
